Golf team loaded with experience

Of the 16 golfers set to tee it up for the Custer High School golf team this fall, four played in the state tournament last year and another saw varsity time throughout the season.
After a few years of being young and inexperienced, this year’s version of the Wildcats is one loaded with experience and depth.

Williams is new football coach

After spending 15 years as an assistant under three coaches, Dave Williams is the man in charge of the Custer High School football team.
Williams became coach earlier this summer when former head coach Russ Bailey resigned and encouraged him to pursue the head coach position. It didn’t take a lot of convincing, as being a head football coach is something he had always wanted to do.

Behlings is national champion

Custer archer Jacie Behlings has come a long way since she first picked up a bow and arrow at the age of 4. Today at 11, she is a world champion who recently shattered two world records. 
Behlings participated in the 2019 National Outdoor Field Archery Tournament July 26-28 and bagged a large trophy, designating her as the cub female barebow national champion. 
In the process, she shattered the old record of 412 in the field competition by an astounding 30 points, finishing with a score of 442. 

Dooley wins Gold Rush Fun Run

Wyatt Dooley of Custer was the overall winner of the Gold Discovery Days 5k Fun Run July 21.
Dooley ran the race in 20:09, nearly a minute better than second-place finishing Matt Noble, a Custer High School graduate who won the 30-39 male category while placing second overall at 21:02.
Logan Bauer of Owatonna, Minn., placed third at a time of 21:52, while Kevin Cooper of Custer was fourth at 22:18 while also placing first in the 50-59 male category. Mary Cooper placed fifth overall and first in the 60 and older female category at a time of 25:52.

Rock climbing routes spark Wyoming dispute
